With Chinese New Year happening on January 29, 2025, here’s what families can expect.

With the Year of the Wood Dragon coming to a close, it’s time to celebrate the Year of the Wood Snake. While the element of Wood symbolizes growth, not all zodiacs will grow in the same way. After all, the stars are just a sign — it’s still up to us to make do with what we have. Without further ado, here’s some of the readings, courtesy of Feng Shui expert and mom Marites Allen, that families may find useful for the year:

What to Expect in the Year of the Wood Snake 2025

1. Don’t overextend one’s health

While we’re tempted to make the most out of the new year, sometimes, we overestimate just how much effort and energy certain things require. But for those who are born in the year of the Dog, Boar, Dragon, and Tiger, they’ll need to be a little more mindful about being healthy. Some are more specific such as the Ox-born to take care of themselves, especially in the context of work, and for those born in the year of the Snake and Monkey, they’ll need to watch out for themselves when they travel.

2. Year of the Snake calls for Active Listening

All the zodiac signs — especially the Ox and the Rabbit — may suffer from relationship bumps and jumps during the Year of the Wood Snake.

So, what can we do? Most psychologists call this “active listening” wherein we make sure that we are present in the conversation. Being present means being mindful of their body language, the rhythm of how they speak, and even the many events that may have led up to a build-up of frustrations. After all, in the lunar year that’s supposedly bringing in growth, there’s bound to be some “growing pains.”

3. Expect a lot of greens and reds

Recently, the declared lucky colors of the Year 2025 were emerald green and carmine red. It represents the interaction of the elements of wood and fire for the year.

But take note, the lucky colors vary per zodiac. For the Snake in 2025, it’s blue and the lucky stone is a Sapphire. The Rabbit finds fortune in silver, the Dragon attracts more luck when they wear yellow clothes or yellow stones, the Rooster prefers purple for 2025, and many others! Usually, these colors rotate and change, depending also on the element.

4. Focus more on long-term than short-term

Perfectly fitting the nature of Wood, most families would be advised to go for something more long-term this year than short-term. It may be frustrating especially when we want instant results. But this year, according to the forecasts, is for growing and looking for long-term results over short-term ones. It can range from banking investments or even certain buys.

How we apply these forecasts is still up to us!

While many families are heavily influenced by Feng Shui, we have to remember that the results of these readings are still up to us. How we interpret and use the readings to make the most out of the year — that’s all based on our own efforts. But there’s also no shame in entrusting things to Fate; there are just some things that we can’t control. But if ever we need an assurance or a deeper understanding of the stars and the year, Feng Shui experts like Maritess Allen are more than happy to answer our questions.
