Boost your chi this May, with Feng Shui soul queen Marites Allen’s new bi-monthly column.

Flow in the right direction

Every month, lucky and unlucky energies fly to different sectors of the home and office, according to the Flying Stars school of Feng Shui. This month, the lucky sectors are South East, South, South West, East and West. The unlucky sectors are Centre, North East, North and North West. The direction of these energies has a strong effect on some animal signs.

Find peace in the North West

The conflict star in the North West indicates arguments and strained relationships for the Dog and Boar. Manage your energy levels and avoid unnecessary arguments. Display Peace and Harmony symbols, including the Floral Mantra plaque or the evil eye emblem in the North West.

Enjoy good fortune in the South West

The Prosperity Star in the South West indicates good fortune for the Sheep and Monkey. Display prosperity enhancers here, such as wealth vases, infinity figurines, and a prosperity tree. Always wear your Double Infinity Earrings for wealth and the Mystic Knot Shawl for Abundance.

Boost your love in the West

The Romance and Education Star in the West is good for the Rooster. Be generous in the use of the Mystic Knot or Double Happiness symbols. Wear your Attractiveness and Popularity Shawl and the Good Fortune Charm for Love and Luck. Activate the West sector not only with love-inspired symbols, but also wealth-enhancing displays such as a wealth fountain, infinity symbols and the image of your secret friend, the Dragon.

Honour your wellbeing in the centre

All members of the household are warned against the presence of the monthly Negativity Star in the centre. Display your wu lou figurines here and try to keep this part of the house quiet this month to avoid putting more fire into the afflicted energy. Always wear your antinegativity medallion and ultimate mantra ring as protection, especially when you venture out of your home.

Protect from break ins in the North

The Rat is warned against the Violence and Robbery Star in the North. Install a pair of Fu Dogs in the North, especially if you have your main entrance here to help protect you from falling victim to break ins and robbery. Have your Rhino and Elephant-inspired accessories handy and don’t forget your Mantra bangles and Anti-Robbery medallion.

Double your luck in the East

The Magnifying Star in the East doubles good luck for the Rabbit. Your must-wear accessories this month include the 9 Mantra Shawl for Good Fortune or the Affirmation Mantra Scarf. Enhance career and business opportunities with the Chinese abacus, world map, or swirling globe in your workplace.

Exude confidence in the South

Heaven or Windfall Luck in the South is good for the Horse. Exude confidence among those around you with the Popularity and Attractiveness Shawl and the Auspicious Mantra Sweater. Place prosperity symbols such as the Emperor Coins in the South. Wearing accessories with the Victory feng shui symbol also helps.

Favour opportunities in the South East

The energy in the South East, which brings new opportunities and financial gains, favours the Dragon and Snake. Enhance this good fortune by using power-inspired amulets, including the Ruyi wallet and belt. Wear the Affirmation Scarf for Prosperity or the Affirmation Shawl for Abundance to boost your luck this month.

Take hold of the lucky energies moving around your home with this Feng Shui guidance and these recommended charms. Boost your abundance, gain confidence and honour your wellbeing – all in time for summer! The sectors of your home are divided here into the points of the compass to help you know which symbols to use there this May. We also have the Feng Shui element and colour of the month to guide you, and the answer to our first reader question!

ELEMENT OF THE MONTH

In Feng Shui, the month of May is allocated to the Water Snake. Snakeborn people are perceived to be very smart and intelligent. They are thought to have good memories and to have good dealings in managing their finances. At times they could appear very soft spoken and reserved but when they are ready to speak their opinions are heard and highly regarded. Meditation, keeping at peace with their surroundings and everyone around them, is their uppermost goal.

Colour of the month

The special and lucky colour elements for this month are black, blue and grey. Black, blue and grey are good for stability, career and provide wellbeing and calmness.

Ask your Feng Shui diva

Q: “I was born in the year of the Tiger – 12th June, 1986 and I would like to know how I can banish away any bad energies at the moment, and what could help?

A: The Tiger and Ox could be highly vulnerable to the Misfortune Star in the North East. This is the most dreaded energy because it brings many types of negativities that affect wellbeing, wealth, relationships and business prospects. The best protection for this is the Five-Element Pagoda symbol. Place one in the North East and wear some fashion accessories designed with this symbol. Wear the Anti-Evil Spirit amulet for added protection.
