Marites Allen is popularly known as the ‘Philippine Feng Shui Queen’ for her great strides in promoting Feng Shui practice in the country and in other parts of the world.

Philippine Feng Shui Queen Marites Allen‘s annual Chinese New Year forecast led the pack as usual for 2022. The celebrated convention, heralding the Year of the Water Tiger, was simultaneously broadcast across several countries via digital entertainment platform KTX on December 26 and 27.

The turnout overwhelmed the well-known geomancer on both days, drawing in over a thousand viewers, all eager to know why Allen describes 2022 as a “fierce year.”

“A lot of things had to be taken into consideration for the two-day convention. That’s why it was four weeks in the making. If we had 100 or 200 registrants, it was already a good number for us, but amazingly, we went over the thousand mark, and it was really unexpected,” beamed the Feng Shui practitioner in an exclusive interview with The Sunday Times Magazine.

“This is also the first time for KTX to have a Feng Shui event like this, and honestly, it was quite a challenge because what’s nice with the live events before is this: you give the forecast, then you’re done,” she chuckled. “[Going digital], we had to record the event in advance and edit it with my materials. Literally, I had no sleep, but in a way, I was surprised to learn that this is really the way and the medium people want. Everyone was happy, and it was really worth it,” she added.

As in past years, Allen gave her hundred percent in laying out every detail of the forecast — from the annual destiny chart to the readings of every sign, each one expertly analyzed.

“Forecast takes forever. You don’t research it just because it will be Chinese New Year again. I must tell you that as early as now and immediately as soon as 2022 is in full swing, my books and almanac are out, I’am already getting starting for 2023. That’s my mindset, and it’s not easy to keep up.

“There are 365 days in a year, and every day, you have to know the good and the bad days to do things. Then you have 24 hours in a day with 12 animal signs, so imagine reading which dates and precise hour, minute or second the good and bad days are in all that.

” And then you have a planner, horoscope books, lucky products for each sign, etc. to promote, and that’s been my life for the last 20 years. So to forecast isn’t about how long to do it, but it’s an ongoing process.”

‘Year of the Water Tiger’

According to Allen, the ruling animal sign for 2022 is known to be “wild and ferocious,” much like the period of “cut-throat competition, shaky relationships, health challenges, and controversial affairs of the state” about to unfold.

What to expect in 2022 – Year of the Water Tiger

“Tigers are very aggressive and very strong. They live in the forest where they are their own king. So if you look at the positive side of tigers, they do things on their own. They are very independent, and they don’t wait on anyone,” she detailed.

“But on the other hand, because they believe they are the king and have their own tribe, tigers feel very secure of themselves and by nature won’t listen to anyone.”

Therefore, the Feng Shui expert advised that everyone should look out for the Tiger’s temperament throughout the year.

“In 2022, a lot of people will have a short fuse, and the general attitude will be very temperamental. For example, when you have a problem that’s just small, really, people will try to complicate it with many things to make it seem bigger. That’s why we have to be careful and not carried away.”

Moreover, Allen warned that 2022 might emerge as a year of misunderstanding, arguments, separation and breakups.

“The year 2022 will see the separation of many things — separation from a party, from a loved one, termination of a relationship, termination of employment, partnership, etc.,” she enumerated.

2022 Destiny Chart

By Allen’s readings, the 2022 Destiny Pillar shows all the Yang elements and is dominated by the Yang Tiger signs on its Day, Month, and Year Pillars.

“This could bring a triple whammy to the Monkey-born, the conflict animal of the Tiger,” she cautioned.

Meanwhile, Yang animal signs belonging to the Tiger, Dragon, Horse and Dog, will, however, be boosted by the year’s energy, as will the Monkey, notwithstanding the conflict and challenges ahead.

In contrast, the Rat, Ox, Snake, Rabbit, Sheep, Rooster and Boar may have to take it easy this year and proceed only with caution and determination.

The year’s main destiny chart, which covers February 1, 2022, to January 21, 2023, sees plenty of wood and water, some earth and fire, but an absence of metal.

“Excessive water and wood suggest constant movement and traveling. The missing metal element infers a tendency for people to act and do things independently; thus, more division rather than partnership. Metal is like a magnet that represents connections or connecting people. Likewise, its absence indicates many forms of separation.”

Unfortunately, Allen added, “This could also mean a lack of justice for those who need it, resulting in, for example, human rights violations not properly resolved. People may also tend to be lazy, stubborn and envious,” she continued.

Money-wise, financial institutions could be weak and vulnerable, and new innovations in cryptocurrencies, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and blockchain technologies could well gain ground in people’s daily lives.

“Opportunities to make money and attract fortune are going to be scant, especially for the less-privileged, thus another year when the rich may become richer, while the poor may become poorer. Beware also, this can also be a time where the fall of the rich could happen instantly,” warned Allen.

Volatility can further be seen in property markets in the form of a possible bubble where buyers can enjoy good deals and sellers incur losses. The first quarter may be quiet, with things perking up later in the year.

As for industries, those with the water element — such as maritime, transport, aquaculture and shipping — can explore new markets and have the potential to enjoy sustainable and profitable activities.

“Investments related to ports, rivers and maritime businesses should be good. Businesses that develop innovative solutions and technologies should also be profitable.”

Health and Covid-19

Allen sees the presence of the “Misfortune Star 5” in 2022 via strong wood and water charts, indicating the potential for more drastic climate change impacts, tsunamis and more water-related incidents.

She added that the same star could increase illnesses, especially the digestive system, and the continuation of Covid-19 throughout the year.

But rather than be scared, Allen said that she chooses to see the glass half full. “We’ve had very good two years of ‘practice’ living, suffering from and surviving an event we have never seen in our lifetime.

“Last 2020 was a shocking experience for us all, but every day, there were experts and scientists who were all on eyes on the pandemic. Humanity is being saved. Perhaps, it’s really how the overall karma our generation has to go through,” Allen reflected.

“Again, we just have to move on. This is one thing even scientists cannot predict. If there will be another variant, we just have to go on with it. I would say this is beyond Feng Shui because there is still going to be a virus since the center star of the chart was the so-called Star Number 5, which is the Misfortune Star,” she recapitulated.

“People keep asking me, ‘In totality, will there be Covid still?’ My anwer is this, there could be, so we will have to live with it. But then, as I said, this will be a better time compared to what we experienced in 2020 when we still didn’t have the vaccine, and the scientists didn’t know yet what they were dealing with,” Allen continued.

Her prognosis post-Covid-19 sees many people moving to new places, what with the “Sky Horse Star” present in the year of the Tiger.

“This means traveling will be permitted, although sea and land disasters are also likely to happen,” Allen warned.

Moreover, emotions and mental health should remain a top priority in 2022 as post-Covid-19 scenarios could bring solitude, loneliness, and depression that could push one to be unstable.

“The weak Fire element in the chart is the one that infers a loss of hope and possible depression,” she explained.

Political-wise

Allen furthered that year of the Water Tiger is unfortunately associated with tension, struggles and rebellions. Therefore, societies and governments are cautioned to avoid scandals or shortfalls in service, as this year could be very hectic and filled with unforeseen changes and unexpected developments.

“The younger generation should, however, be stronger than ever,” said Allen. “They can make or break society, whether through political involvement or lifestyle causes. Their voices are highly relevant and powerful this year so political and business leaders must listen to them.

“If I were to advise a politician, I would really woo or gain the confidence and trust of the younger generation,” Allen insisted. “The youth today are very intelligent — they are a very smart voting population.”

Feng Shui amidst pandemic

In asking after the popular Feng Shui artist’s practice, including her supplemental business, Frigga Charmed Life, Allen admitted having gone through some drastic changes.

With imposed limitations in movement and travel, she transformed operations into digital via eCommerce and online selling. But thanks to her followers’ continued support and, of course, tech technology, these changes were met and have actually led to more practical and ingenious ways of keeping in touch despite the pandemic.

“If you notice, we were also announcing I have to have support help in terms of eCommerce. We now have call center agents on our website, and I never imagined I would hire them to answer inquiries. At the same time, we now have the e-consult app so people can just contact and consult me. Those who want to buy books and the almanac abroad can just download the app,” she proudly said.

“Since before, even in the 2018 economic crisis, Feng Shui had been a pandemic-proof business. I’m not boasting, but if a person is going through very good luck, then people will come to you because they want to contain it. But if a person is going through a bad luck whether in career, business, relationship, they still want Feng Shui,” she declared.

“My consultations have increased. I’ve never slept more than a few hours lately because I have to cater to different continents. I have developers in Portugal, Poland, the Philippines, and the United Kingdom to ensure that we are doing everything well and online. I can do at most 10 consultations a day from different parts of the world.”

Important reminders

Overall, Allen shared that the year 2022 requires everyone to be more dynamic, zestful and passionate as surviving the pandemic is an achievement and has genuinely made everyone stronger. As such, this is the time for everyone to give their best, improvise their lifestyle, and be a hundred percent positive.

“Be calm, balanced and do things in moderation,” conveyed Allen.

Finally, she stressed that her forecasts are not predictions. Instead, Feng Shui charts energies and balances them.

“This isn’t fortune telling, but while future is uncertain, Feng Shui provides guidelines on how specific life energies can impact our lives and how we can balance those energies to help us achieve our goals. So, let’s look at how we may navigate another uncertain year by looking at the character traits of its ruling zodiac animal,” she ended.
