It is safe to say that after the challenging and tumultuous year that was 2020, everyone is hoping for a better 2021. Deeply aware of this, feng shui queen Marites Allen made sure her annual forecast for Year of the Metal Ox is laden with tips on how to effectively — and even successfully — navigate the new normal.

Broadcast internationally just before the end of 2020, Allen unveiled the theme “Thrive, Not Just Strive, in the Year of the Metal Ox,” with the overarching message, “We should change the rules of the game.”

But before she could continue, Allen had to first address the issue why feng shui masters — like her — were not able to predict the occurrence of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Taal Volcano eruption, and social and political unrest, among others stressors in 2020.

“When the pandemic happened, there was [a notion] like, ‘Why didn’t the feng shui experts see it?’ Basically, to be honest with you, we are not mga manghuhula. We are not fortune tellers,” she expressed in her webinar.

Not seeing what could happen this year as clearly as fortune tellers claim they could makes Allen hopeful for what is yet to come, and advises her followers to just keep going this year.

The Year of the Metal Ox (1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009) generally has the features of fortune, personality, and compatibility. Notable figures born this year are Barack Obama, Vincent Van Gogh, Charlie Chaplin, Princess Diana of Wales, Walt Disney, and George Clooney.

The new year will be a make-it or break-it year, as people are still adjusting from the pressures of 2021. Allen, however, assured that they can make it through by knowing the good and bad indications of the year.

Allen’s forecasts for business and wealth luck are somehow compromised with lower growth energy. This is due to the missing lap chun, or the first day of spring in the Chinese lunar calendar. It is also due to weak money luck.

However, income and moderate wealth creation can occur through careful planning and hard work.

Since the stock market lacked sustainability in 2020 and had low growth, Allen reminds people to beware of risky investments in 2021 and be cautious of the promising announcements of companies. Innovative companies should perform quite well, especially those who are part of and make the most of technologies. There is potential for increased profits mid-year.

The general lack of growth energy affects the career chart. According to Allen, employees should stay put in their job or profession, if they can. They further have to stay focused, watch their emotions, avoid conflicts with co-workers and stay calm. Promotion aspects can be improved this year with hard work.

Unfortunately, 2021 will not be a great year for romance. According to Allen, there are increased possibilities that marriages can be affected by infidelity and betrayal energies. For those who are married, Allen advices that they should beware of third parties and the temptations to take the easy way out, as this may only lead to more challenges.

Finally, in regard to health luck, it is necessary to take very good care of the mind and body following the stresses of 2020. Work stress increase and so Allen encourages creating harmony in the environment, considering a new hobby or endeavor, and lastly, keeping health protectors in the north and beside one’s self while sleeping.
