“For hairstyles, it’s about the colour and the cut,” celebrity Feng Shui expert Marites Allen told Cover Media. “It depends on your birth date and sign. It all starts with aligning your image with your personal element – earth, fire, water, wood, or metal.   

“With your ideal match, harmonise your internal energies with external ones to good relationships, prosperity, good health and better career prospects.”  

Simply use the last digit of your birth year to find your personal element – wood, fire, earth, metal, or water – it’s easy to look this up online.  

Wood elements suit long and straight light blonde or brown hairstyles, earth elements benefit from dark brown or blonde angular crops, short and spiky chestnut locks are a great look for fire, try ash-blonde curls or waves for water, and metal elements should consider soft, rounded styles like a copper or dark brown long bob.  

“All of us have an intelligence style and an attractive style,” Marites added. “My long wavy hair is my intelligence style, blue is my intelligence colour. For fame and popularity, my colour is red.   

“Once you know your lucky colours, you can also incorporate these in your eyeshadow and lipstick too for additional beauty luck!”  

When it comes to make-up, Marites says that those born under the water element should stick to black, blue and grey, while fire signs have a connection to red, pink, and purple. Wood elements are best suited to greens and browns, metal elements should choose white, gold and silver, with creams and beige working well for earth.
