My very first travel abroad was in Australia in the 90’s. I was so fascinated with the beautiful cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Canberra. Prior to the trip, I had prepared myself, reading the Lonely Planet travel book on what to expect when in Australia. It was autumn and the weather was just too cold for me. However, I had a lot of firsts while I was there –including meeting a real kangaroo if my memory serves me right. It was actually a mixture of anxiety and excitement. There are anticipations and mixed emotions which we can all learn from—all we can do is to carry on and enjoy the moment.
