14th IFSC: Ancient Solutions for Modern Living

November 08, 2017

Ref: Malaya Business Insight, 8th November 2017

Our very own certified Feng Shui Master Marites Allen will be one of the lead speakers alongside the Four Grand Masters and some Masters of Feng Shui at the International Feng Shui Convention (IFSC), an annual two-day conference featuring the world’s most respected Feng Shui masters and experts from allied disciplines, such as Chinese astrology. It is set for November 18 - 19, 2017 at the multi-awarded Marco Polo Hotel Ortigas.

This is the 14th annual convention organized by the International Feng Shui Association (IFSA), a Singapore-based nonprofit organization composed of Feng Shui academics, experts, and practitioners who advocate the global cultivation, awareness, and appreciation of Feng Shui.

Previous conferences had been held in Singapore, Bangkok, Shanghai, and Melbourne, but this is the first time in 14 years that it will be conducted in Manila.  It gives local feng shui aficionados a great opportunity to learn from Feng Shui Grand Masters and Masters in a single event. Many of the Masters will be available for interview, private consultations, and book signing.

The full program will have four renowned grand masters and three masters taking center stage on Day 1:

GM Tan Khoon Yong & Master Goh Guan Leong

Feng Shui in Modern Interior design:  A Symphony of Art

In this presentation, Grand Master Tan Khoon Yong and Master Goh Guan Leong will discuss interior versus exterior feng shui, and differentiate between residential and commercial feng shui. They will present how a home’s design and facing should complement the homeowner’s Bazi for optimal Feng Shui. Urban interior design types provide insight on how each style benefits or is incongruous with an individual’s personal chart. Some taboo theories in interior design and practical solutions will be discussed.

GM Vincent Koh

Reading the Chinese Almanac: Its structure and history

The Almanac, also known among the Chinese as the Tong Shu, is regarded as “The Book of Everything.” Its history spans more than 4,000 years and is popularly used for good luck and protection against bad spirits. The Almanac is also used by Feng Shui practitioners, mainly for selecting auspicious dates to hold a wedding, funeral, construction, starting a new job, etc. Every year, more than one million copies of the Tong Shu are sold worldwide. GM Vincent Koh will discuss why the Almanac is popular till today and will walk the audience through its relevant features that are important for Feng Shui practice.

GM Stephen Skinner

The Integration of different Feng Shui methods

In this talk, GM Stephen Skinner will resolve some of the confusions arising from the many different Schools and methods used in Feng Shui -- from Eight Mansion and Flying Star, San He and San Yuan, to Qi Men Dun Jia and Xuan Kong Da Gua. He will focus on the most appropriate solution for a particular problem and identify areas where particular methods may or may not be applied.

GM Raymond Lo

Modern Qi Men Dun Jia

Qi Men Dun Jia is one of the most respected ancient divination arts. This famous art was used as a war strategy in the famous battle of Red Cliff in 208 AD. In the modern world, this ancient technique can be an effective tool for understanding specific problems and enhance one’s chances for success. This lecture will explain the background and methods of Qi Men practices and demonstrate how they can be used for handling problems in career, relationship, legal litigations, etc. It will also introduce the mysterious and fascinating Daoist Yin Dun Jia methods.

Master Jacek Kryg

The role of the Yijing in Xuan Kong Da Gua

The Yijing is one of the oldest and the most important books in the world. In understanding this Book of Changes we learn the foundation of Chinese metaphysics, such as yin and yang, trigrams, and hexagrams.

Xuan Kong Da Gua (XKDG) is an advanced Feng Shui method that helps to integrate the time and space elements of the practice. Every unit of time and every geographical position has its own hexagram. XKDG helps to bring together these units and their hexagrams.

Master Marites Allen

Feng Shui Fashion in ancient China and the modern day

Master Marites Allen will discuss interesting parallelisms between ancient Egyptian and Chinese traditions gleaned from her travels to Egypt and Central Asia, and the ancient petroglyphs in Kyrgyzstan. She will show how the Egyptians used a variety of images very much like Chinese amulets and specific symbols used in their jewelry, clothing, and accessories. She will present specific examples of how Hollywood actors and even top fashion houses use the concept of auspicious fashion to enhance various life aspirations.

Apart from the IFSA convention, Ms. Allen is also scheduled to host her own Annual Feng Shui Convention to welcome the Year of the Earth Dog on January 6, 2018 in the same venue.

On Day 2 of the event, participants can choose from a lineup of 14 topics, including Using Feng Shui to Select a Commercial Site, Feng Shui Fallacies, Using Bazi and Feng Shui to improve relationships, Palm Reading as an adjunct to Feng Shui, and Four Pillars of Destiny:  an Alternative Look at Celebrity Charts to be conducted by other feng shui masters.

A Gala Dinner on the evening of November 19 will give the attendees a chance to interact with the Grand Masters, while enjoying a sumptuous buffet dinner sponsored by the Philippine Tourism Promotions Board.  The Department of Tourism Secretary, Ms Wanda Corazon Teo, will be present at this Gala Dinner. For more details of the Tourism Promotions Board’s involvement with, and sponsorship of IFSC, contact Jocelyn Casiano of the M.I.C.E Department, (joy_casiano@tpb.gov.ph).
