Feng shui tips for your children’s bedroom

At last our WOFS Serendra boutique opened to the public last Oct. 26! It is located at the newly Ayala-constructed facility at The Piazza, Fort Bonifacio (tel no. 909-7088). The guests were entertained with some feng shui rituals before and after the formal opening. Our guest of honor was my dear Rabbit friend former Ms. Universe—Gloria Diaz and our RCMPT past president Carol Llanillio. However, my happiness was completed when my other Rabbit friend came as a surprise—no less than the always fabulous fashion icon and my most auspicious friend Tessa Prieto Valdes. It was so great to see these special people whom I became good friends since the birth of World of Feng Shui franchise into the country less than 24 months ago. WOFS Serendra is our fourth boutique and opening tomorrow, Nov. 3, will be our branch at WOFS The Block at SM North Edsa. My special thanks to all those who supported the rapid growth of World of Feng Shui branches. We established five full-pledged boutiques in less than two years of operation, through your continued patronage.

Two weeks ago my husband and I had a bonding session with our eldest son during his recollection day. Kirck is entering high school next year and therefore that recollection day was very special for him and for his batch—but actually, it turned out to be so memorable for us parents too! All parents were briefed that we shall be “surprising” our kids for our visit (the kids stayed overnight) and did not expect at all for any of our presence. While waiting for the “surprise event” we were asked to practice songs such as “Kabarkada” and “ I Will be Here for You” and the finale song would be the “Kamikaze” to which I just don’t have a clue at all being a foregone teenager! Moreso, my dear English husband has been so apologetic to everyone as he cannot relate at all to any of the songs. Well, it’s me who had to try doubly hard to memorize those songs before meeting our sons.

When the time came, we were lining up in the darkened hallway of their dormitory with candles on our hands. As we entered the hallway, the intro of the music started, and while all parents were set to give the best surprise songs ever to our children, I’m telling you guys, nothing came out from our voices! We all got so emotional and started to have teary eyes and my heart was filled with mixed emotions. Seeing our sons as full-pledged teenagers now makes me wonder what happened to my little boy? Well, well, well, it was such a beautiful time between my husband and our used to be baby Kirck. Knowing the rest of the parents was also an exciting experience especially when the mothers started to request me to give them some feng shui lecturing about how to enhance their kids’ education.

Well, to the parents out there, here are the tried and tested formulas for helping your children achieve their full potential as featured through our Web site www.wofs.com. As children are always growing and are usually full of energy, it is thus best to use more yang than yin features in bedrooms for children. This means more light and more noise. Avoid hanging fierce-looking pictures or figurines like wild animals.

Bad placement of the bed and study desk will cause problems to the child’s health and performance in school. For children, the sitting and sleeping directions are the two vital factors in getting feng shui right.

  1. Arrange the children’s bed to face their “personal growth direction’’ (fuwei direction). It is not necessary to tap the wealth direction, since they have not yet entered the job market. Instead, activate for good health and study luck.
  2. Focus on the study desk. Make sure they are tapping their “personal growth direction” when they are studying or doing homework.

Things to take into consideration when arranging the study room

  1. Do not place the desk with a window or a door behind the chair.
  2. Do not have a tree growing too near to your child’s bedroom.
  3. Do not have a protruding air conditioner or exposed beam on top of the desk.
  4. Avoid sharp edges of cupboards, pillars and protruding corners.
  5. Do not have open shelves in the bedroom.
  6. Do not place the study desk between the door and window.
  7. Make sure the north east sector of the house is not affected by a toilet, storeroom or kitchen. If it is, place a six-rod metal windchime to exhaust the afflicted earth energy there.

Feng shui enhancers for study luck

  1. Place a crystal globe in the NE of the room. Turn the crystal globe three times a day.
  2. Place a seven-level pagoda in the NE of the study desk to bring good examination luck.
  3. Give your child a personal crystal point. The crystal should sit on the study desk when he/she is studying, and under the pillow when he/she is sleeping. Place it on the study desk while studying. Your child should carry the crystal point into exams.
  4. Place five different colors of glitter lamps in the NE sector of the bedroom to activate for study luck.
  5. For my children, I always ask them to carry their amulet of their allies and friends. For example, since my son Kirck is a Rooster, he carries with him his lucky charm which has. the engraving of Dragon, his secret friend, and his other friends which are the Ox and Snake. When Kirck was a transferee to his school (now) four years ago, he never had problems with gaining friends, our house is busy with his guest friends during weekends. To the moms out there, try it, it should work for you!
