The Amazing Colors of Feng Shui

May 24, 2007

By Marites Allen

My dear readers, I have such an amazing time taping the “KULAY episode for Rated K” yesterday with the multi-awarded journalist/TV host Korina Sanchez. We were showing one of my consultations on the fully certified “feng shui” residence of Weng Enriquez-a very successful and pretty businesswoman. We were all there to discuss how changing the colors of your home can truly have a positive change in your life. You’re going to see how these colors and numerous feng shui enhancers and cures have blended so well in each sector of Weng’s residence! By the way, don’t miss to watch this exciting episode on “Rated K” on ABS-CBN Channel 2 on Sunday, May 27, I am sure you will learn a lot from it too! In the meantime, here’s a glimpse on some of the things we have discussed in that show.

As the Science of Feng Shui stated repeatedly, the Yin and Yang energy should b e well balanced to achieve harmony in our home or workplace. An excessive amount of either one will wekin the other, and thus would lead to unfortunate things or events, big or small. However, one should not ear s feng shui itself offer numerous solutions for this problem. First of all, as many of your probably know by now, I have stated before that everything around us consists of five elements, namely: Fire, Metal, Earth, Wood, and Water. For your personally, it is through your time and date of birth, you would know which of these elements is he/she has an excess or lack thereof. For instance, have you ever wondered why you seem so tired every day, or you’re too angry, or you’re successful in business but have weak relationship luck? It could be that you’re over-activating or weakening a particular element without even you knowing it, and leaving you again in an imbalanced state.

Here is where the Five Element Chart comes into play. Each of the five elements stated above has a particular best direction. The East and Southeast directions are represented by the Wood element; the South direction belongs to the Fire element; the Earth element is in the Southwest and Northeast; Metal is at the West and Northwest; and Water is best at the North. That’s why feng shui readings of your home or workplace should be done before you occupy it so the good chi could flow smoothly as well. However, if you cannot afford to have feng shui consultations or it is just too late for you to do some more home or office arrangements for whatever reason, feng shui offers again a clever solution: All these five elements represent a color or two. And so with just a fresh coat of paint, you cannot only “revive” your home but also add a dash of auspiciousness too. It’s just like hitting two birds with one stone, as the saying goes.

After accurately locating eight compass directions in your home/workplace using a compass, you can now start getting a brush and start painting! For those who need to activate the Wood element, paint the East/Southeast with green. To activate the Fire element, paint the South with red or purple. For the Southeast/Northwest sectors of your home, rev it up with brown or orange because they are the Earth directions. The Metal element is in the West and Northwest, so paint it with white, silver, and gold. Lastly, the Water element is at the North, so it is best to paint it blue or black. Check out the floor plain I have provided below on how you can incorporate these colors harmonizing your own homes.

Before I forget, you can also use your Kua numbers to determine which colors are best for you, depending on which aspect of your life you want to enhance. Check out our bookmarks available at all WOFS boutiques. It is an easy-to-follow guide on how to achieve more auspiciousness.
